The Tri-Lakes area, located just a half-hour north of Colorado Springs, consists of the towns and areas of Monument, Palmer Lake and Woodmoor. Tri-Lakes' rolling hills, tall pine trees and three lakes contribute to the scenic landscape that continues to attract new residents who find the friendly, small town communities are perfect for their needs. Monument
Named after the nearby Monument Rock, the Town of Monument and Monument Lake is situated in El Paso County's Rampart Range and is bordered on the west by the Pike National Forest. With less than 2,000 residents, Monument is truly a small town and the atmosphere here is friendly and homesites are still spacious, offering privacy and seclusion.
Most of the businesses operations in Monument are small and locally-owned and can be found in Monument Plaza where the shops, restaurants and professional service establishments are within walking distance. As the popularity of Monument is growing, the town has added a new Jackson Creek Center where national retail stores are mixed will smaller businesses, restaurants and even condominiums. Monument residents take full advantage of the natural landscape and enjoy a variety of outdoor adventures both on the hills that surround them and the town's beautiful lake.
Palmer Lake
Just over 2,000 people call Palmer Lake their home, but this small town offers big amenities to homebuyers who prefer peace and tranquility over the crowded streets of the city. Within Palmer Lake you will find residents enjoying evenings and weekends in the downtown area, where cozy restaurants, a historical museum, art galleries, antique stores, a coffee shop and other establishments welcome patrons.
Like the other towns and areas included in the Tri-Lakes, Palmer Lake is an extremely popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Palmer Lake is adjacent to the Santa Fe Regional Trail, where 15 miles of gravel paths runs south through Monument to the Air Force Academy's southern boundary and follows an old railroad line. The Santa Fe Regional Trail is great for many activities that include biking, hiking and horseback riding and during the winter it's not unusual to see cross-country skiers on the trail. Of course, Palmer Lake is popular for fishing and when it freezes in the winter is perfect for supervised ice skating during the town's Winterfest celebrations.
Woodmoor
About 8,000 residents live in the community of Woodmoor, part of the ever-growing Tri-Lakes region. Established in 1971, Woodmoor features nearly 3,000 lots and is currently nearly built-out. Woodmoor is an extremely popular community for those who prefer to buy a home with scenic views of Pikes Peak and Mount Hermann, open areas and appealing homes that must fit specific design standards as established by the community.
An old dairy barn was renovated to create a modern and functional structure that serves as Woodmoor Community Center. Today, "The Barn" serves as the home of the Woodmoor Improvement Association and Woodmoor Public Safety, while also being used for community classes and rented for weddings, receptions, parties and meetings. Lake Woodmoor is a private lake, available only to Woodmoor residents and guests.
